ART & STORYRibét Academy Fundraising event for 826LA

Opening Night: June 1st, 6 – 9PM

Mark your calendar for the Ribet Academy arts program fundraising event for the 826LA creative writing class. 826LA writers are crafting stories inspired by the art created by Ribét art students. All sales will benefit 826LA.

826LA is a non-profit organization that provides students with the tools and resources that encourage their writing and creativity. For many students 826LA is their only creative outlet, since it is no longer offered in their school and/or community. Within the classrooms of Ribét Academy students have taken their meaning of art and creativity a step further in order to make an impact on their community. Under the curation and guidance of KK Los Angeles, a three-week workshop was spawned between students of Ribét and 826LA, who together collaborated on making art inspired by stories and stories inspired by the artwork.

On Friday, June 1st, this KK Los Angeles event will demonstrate the culmination of this workshop collaboration by exhibiting the artwork and creative voices side-by-side. This compelling exhibit depicts the power that art and storytelling has in bringing two disparate communities together.
